Many modern vehicles are equipped with single-source factory radios based on CANBUS. When you want to replace them with an aftermarket radio, you run into the problem of not having ignition power in the factory audio harness for the new radio to work, as the new radio is dual-source. Normally, you would then buy an ISO adapter, to which you would need to manually input your own ignition power, requiring knowledge, tools, and labor. This cable eliminates all of that as it includes a small CAN decoder box that will provide ignition power from the car's CAN bus data system when the key is in the accessory position.
